Electricity :-
The voltage is 220 V with 50 Hz For North American electrical equipment, please bring 110V to 220V converters. The electrical plug needs 2 rounded prong with out ground.
Australian Power appliances will work fine on this voltage. Just need the adapter to suit the two prong Euro plugs
Language :-
The official language is Arabic. However, most locals who are active in tourism speak English,
German and Italian as well. We can say many in Cairo do speak English although not always that well. You manage OK.
Health :-
At present time no vaccinations are required. However, it is advisable to be vaccinated against Polio, Hepatitis-A and Tetanus. Your first aid kit should include medication for diarrhea.
Due to the high temperatures and the resulting dehydration it is highly recommended to drink at least 4 litres of water a day.
Climate :-
The best time to go to Egypt is in spring and fall though it can get a little cool at night. During the summer months July and August it is hot, but there is less wind than during the winter months. However, according to experiences, the view under water is best in summer and fall.
There is almost always a light or even strong wind coming from North.
Restaurants :-
Most of the holiday makers stay in big hotels which offer an international menu. If you get hungry
at any time there are beach bars in every hotel which offer hamburgers, pasta or sandwiches.
Those who would like to taste the Egyptian cooking should not hesitate to dine in a typical
restaurant, at a reasonable price. The different dishes are really tasty , though sometimes they are a little fatty. Fried chicken liver, parsley salad, falafel or the national dish foul (green beans) are on the menu. If you like you can have with tahina (sesame sauce) or babaganoug (mashed egg-plant with garlic).
For better digestion sweet black tea is served after meals.
